With just 10
years left to achieve the SDGs, 2020 marks the Decade of Action.
The Decade of Action calls for accelerating sustainable solutions to all
the world’s biggest challenges — ranging from poverty and gender to
climate change, inequality and closing the finance gap. We look forward
to our network delivering on the SDGs this next decade.
COP25
Low-Emissions Solutions Conference (LESC)
This
year's LESC entitled, "Systems Transformations for a 1.5
Degree World" was co-hosted by SDSN, WBCSD, and ICLEI on
9-10 December in Madrid, Spain alongside the UNFCCC COP25.
Discussions focused on SDSN's Roadmap to 2050: A Manual
for Nations to Decarbonize by Mid-Century which
describes technologies for decarbonizing the power, industrial,
transport, and buildings sectors. SDSN TReNDS
Roundtable: Governing the Data Revolution
In this
exclusive roundtable on "Governing the Data Revolution," a
selection of TReNDS Expert Members debated the recent report, Counting on the World to
Act,
including questions around traditional
data methods vs. new data methods, policy and regulatory needs for data
governance, and the importance of placing the Chief Statistician at the
center of the data ecosystem. | New SDG Academy
Course: Conversations with Global Leaders The SDG Academy
in partnership with Club de Madrid just
released a new online course Conversations with Global
Leaders: Leading on Sustainable Development. Over eight
weeks, former heads of state and global leaders of business and civil
society will share their perspectives on how change happens and can be
sustained at the highest levels. Low-Carbon
Transition Strategies for the Midwest United States The SDSN USA Network continues its US Pathways Project with the release
of a new report, “Low-Carbon Transition
Strategies for the Midwest”. This is the latest SDSN
report describing what the energy transition might look like in
different regions of the US. It indicates massive opportunities for the
Midwest to lead in the transition towards electric vehicles and the
build-out of wind energy.
