SDSN Afghanistan mobilizes its members and leverages their strengths to help realize the SDGs through:

Education

Engaging academia to help the government of Afghanistan achieve the SDGs by 2030.

Mobilizing academia and knowledge-generating institutions to help advance the 2030 Agenda.

Creating executive education programs on the SDGs targeted at government officials and other public and private sector contributors.

Awareness and Engagement

Raising institutional awareness through a quarterly policy research journal publication on SDG progress.

Accelerating private and public sector awareness through sectoral guidelines for SDG achievement and creation of a platform for sectoral and cross-sectoral dialogues.

Raising community awareness through a nationwide media and community-based campaign on the SDGs for the general public.

Solutions

Continued membership drive and engagement.

Capacity building through the University SDG Capacity Building Program in Afghanistan.

Developing a data center that houses primary and secondary data on the current situation and progress towards the SDGs in the country.

University Sector Support to the UN’s Decade of Action

On Tuesday, January 18, 2022, the Asia, Europe and the Middle East University Presidents Meeting brought together University Presidents, UN and Government representatives, along with experts from the region, SDSN Network Chairs, Managers, and members of the SDSN Leadership Council, to discuss how universities can contribute to the SDGs and the Paris Climate Agreement and engage with local governments and communities through their key functions.
