SDSN Bolivia mobilizes its members and leverages their strengths to help realize the SDGs through:

Education

Via the Municipal Atlas of the SDGs, the network supports i) research on sustainable development, ii) evidence-based policymaking at all levels, and iii) sustainability roadmaps for local communities.

SDSN Bolivia, together with the University of Trento in Italy, the ifo Institute in Germany, and the Institute for Human Development in India are researching the levels, drivers and spatial distribution of unfair socio-economic inequalities within and between countries, focusing on Bolivia, Germany, India, and Italy.

Awareness and Engagement

Partnering with the Global Living Wage Coalition, SDSN Bolivia is helping to calculate, publish and update living wage benchmark estimates for different locations around the world, using the Anker Living Wage Methodology.

During the 8th annual Burger Week in La Paz, the network promoted responsible production and consumption for reducing the use of disposable plastics. SDSN Bolivia established evaluation criteria for the participating restaurants, which included: promoting the consumption of national and local products, reducing waste from served foods as well as from production and supply chains, the efficient use of natural resources, the environmentally-sound management of chemical products and their release into the atmosphere, water and soil.

Solutions

With financial support from IDRC Canada and in collaboration with the IES Foundation, SDSN Bolivia launched Orbita (Bolivian Observatory for a Sustainable Tourism Industry) to give the sector a strategic boost, “build back better,” leverage new technologies and consciously work to advance the SDGs.

The network produced a Municipal COVID-19 Vulnerability Index, which was used by the Supreme Electoral Tribunal to devise and implement safety plans for the 2020 presidential elections.
