AI’s Dual Climate Role: Its Own Green Energy Needs and Its Power to Transform Energy
Organizers: CEET, UNIDO, and UNFCCC Global Innovation Hub
This COP31 side event will explore how accelerating the transition to clean, affordable, and resilient energy systems is essential to achieving the goals of the Paris Agreement. As AI drives growing energy demand, the need for clean power, greater energy efficiency, and reliable electricity grids becomes increasingly urgent. At the same time, AI can support the energy transition by optimizing power systems, improving renewable energy forecasting and grid flexibility, and strengthening energy planning. The event will examine how AI and energy systems can be developed in a coordinated and responsible manner to advance decarbonization and sustainable development.
