Indonesia

national Network
Region: Asia & Pacific

SDSN Indonesia, hosted by the Universitas Indonesia and the United in Diversity (UID), Jakarta, and established in 2013, mobilizes its members in Indonesia and leverages their strengths to help realize the SDGs. Key focus areas include addressing knowledge gaps among non-state actors and member institutions through co-organizing workshops and mobilizing the youth population to create innovative solutions.

Workshop Connects Network Members to Government SDG Mechanisms

SDSN Indonesia addressed knowledge gaps among non-state actors by hosting a workshop entitled "The Role of University and Civil Society Organizations" that connected academia and civil society with government-offered SDG mechanisms. 40 participants from member institutions, such as Universitas Pembangunan Jaya, Universitas Padjadjaran, Belantara Foundation, CSEAS, SDGs Center Unpad, SDGs Center Undip, SDGs UNHAS (Universitas Hasanuddin), INFID and Universitas Pakuan took part in the workshop.

The Network Hosts Competition for Youth Solutions on Societal Challenges

In collaboration with SDSN Youth Indonesia, SDSN Indonesia hosted a national competition for solutions under the youth track of the Solutions Forum. Held online on October 28, 2023, the competition saw the submission of 12 solutions from youth communities and organizations. Among the outstanding entries, five finalists were selected, showcasing innovative approaches to address various societal challenges. Notably, the winning solution emerged from the Indonesian Women League, titled 'Ladies Circle,' a program designed to empower young women.

The Network Endorses Clean Energy Solution at Regional Forum

SDSN Indonesia participated in the inaugural Asia-Pacific Solutions Forum hosted by SDSN in Sunway City, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Of the six solutions which were selected to present, the solution endorsed by SDSN Indonesia was PARCIS. PARCIS, which stands for Portable Archimedes Screw, is a portable mini-hydro power plant designed as an accelerator for the transition and decentralization of clean and renewable energy. This initiative proposes a solution to generate clean energy, particularly in high-elevation regions.
