Regional Networks

The SDSN mobilizes the world’s academic and research institutes and leverages their strengths to help realize the SDGs and the Paris Agreement. The SDSN pursues its mission by working with member institutions in countries around the world, organized into networks at the national and regional level. Each network focuses on distinct projects and priorities in line with their local contexts and challenges.

In their respective countries and regions, SDSN’s networks of universities, research centers, and other knowledge institutions translate the latest expertise in sustainable development into action by:

Promoting high-quality education and research collaboration for sustainable development

Localizing and mobilizing support for the SDGs, including supporting governments in understanding and addressing the challenges of sustainable development

Vetting and launching solution initiatives, including supporting the preparation of long-term pathways

Join the SDSN

Joining the SDSN is free and happens at the institutional level. Membership allows your institution to work with us and our unique network of problem solvers and contributing to practical solutions for sustainable development. Individuals, businesses, and youth organizations cannot become official members of SDSN. Businesses can become SDSN Business Partners in recognition of their contributions to the work of SDSN. On March 1st, 2024, Keio University SFC Research Institute xSDG Lab and the United Nations University, with the support of the Japan Foundation, and the Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN) Japan, co-hosted a symposium titled GSDR 2023: "Accelerating Transformative Actions: The Role of the Private Sector in Sustainable Development."

Following the success of our previous workshop for the Local Government of Sumedang, West Java, Indonesia in collaboration with the Semai Research and Sumedang Regency, SDSN Southeast Asia is proud to announce the continuation of its partnership with the local government of Sumedang Regency. Together, we are working to provide a comprehensive analysis of the region's development through the formulation of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and long-term pathways analysis for the government of Sumedang Regency. This initiative aims to guide 26 sub-districts across 270 villages over the next 20 years towards sustainable development.

2022 SDSN University Presidents Meeting Report

 In 2022, SDSN hosted a series of online meetings of university leaders of all regions of the world, to brainstorm, compare notes, and present their SDG-related accomplishments to their peer institutions. The turnout was astounding, with hundreds of university presidents participating from Asia, Africa, Europe, North America and South America. This volume collects and summarizes the scintillating presentations made during those online gatherings. Readers will note the extraordinary commitment of the university leaders to the SDGs, and the boldness of university SDG initiatives around the world.

2022 Networks in Action Report

Launched in New York on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly, the 2022 Networks in Action report presents the latest initiatives and partnerships led by the SDSN’s networks to accelerate progress on the 2030 Agenda. SDSN’s 50 national and regional Networks promote the localization and implementation of the SDGs, develop long-term transformation pathways, provide education for sustainable development, and launch Solutions Initiatives to address challenges. Each network focuses on distinct projects and priorities in line with their local contexts and challenges.

Accelerating Education for the SDGs in Universities: A Guide for Universities, Colleges, and Tertiary and Higher Education Institutions

This new guide aims to help universities, colleges, and tertiary and higher education institutions implement and mainstream this "Education for the SDGs" within their institutions. It offers practical approaches and guidance, including the case for action, the different ways Education for the SDGs can be implemented in a university, the outline of a strategic implementation process, the roles of different stakeholders, how to overcome common barriers, and transformative examples.

SDG Action: SDG Edition 2021

The SDGs edition gives a holistic view of where things currently stand, identifying opportunities and providing tangible ways to accelerate progress. It provides a framework to understand the complex interdependencies, highlights priorities and dilemmas, and, most importantly, offers solutions. It will be relevant for sustainability practitioners in all sectors.
